The Blue Sky Wedding Travel story began with the purchase of the Jaguar XJ6 back in 2006. Whilst trying to justify its purchase to the boss (my wife Alison) I casually remarked I could use the vehicle for weddings. After much research and knowing I would be undertaking every wedding myself, I realised I could keep my prices very competitive and decided to try and appeal to people who might be on a limited budget, or those who were perhaps getting married for a second time, or for someone who just wanted a nice car to travel in without having to take out a second mortgage!!
(Customers with a desire for a horse & carriage or overly-expensive vintage cars would need to look elsewhere).

My mother had recently passed away and I received some correspondence from the arthritis society (who were acknowledging a donation) and their stationary pictured a blue sky with fluffy clouds, this guided me towards the name Blue Sky Wedding Travel.
I took out some local advertising and with a little word & mouth amongst friends and family the first batch of weddings were entered into the diary.

I would class myself as an outgoing sort of chap and I found the whole experience very easy to do. I enjoy meeting different people and I slipped into the chauffeur role without any concerns.

In 2007 Alison and I took over the Abbingdon Guest House in York so all my efforts were focused towards making that a success. However, there were still more weddings in the diary as a result of the advertising. Once again I loved every minute of it and the feeling of satisfaction I got afterwards as the happy couple were safely at the reception was tremendous.

With our B & B now established and the day to day running of it going smoothly, I decided to expand Blue Sky Wedding Travel.
I've recently introduced a Mercedes E230 to the fleet and in 2009 I hope to add a 1930s style Beauford vehicle. The 2008 diary is filling up nicely and with this new website, some dedicated advertising and trade stands booked at two wedding fairs later this year, the future of Blue Sky Wedding Travel is looking good.

As a family business I am able to call upon my son-in-law Nigel and a former neighbour of mine, Tony Dale, to assist on driving duties when a second car is required.
